Total Quality Management also known as TQM is a way of improving the quality of return, improve the quality of products and the quality of life – its quality control on the factory floor and beyond. The main purpose is to meet the needs of customers while maintaining the needs of the company structure. TQM software packages are intended to manage all quality issues and corrective procedures within one program.
The belief that mistakes can be avoided and defects can be prevented leads to continuously improving results during all aspects of work. All members of an organization must be active in improving their services, processes, products and atmosphere in which they work in. TQM believes organizations must continuously reach to improve these processes. The simple objective of TQM is “Do the right things, fright the first time, every time.”
All companies have their own unique set of procedures that have to be perfected over time for their facility. When choosing a software package it is important to find a system that will support these procedures and not replace them with a generic process. Which type of TQM will work best for your company? There are the possibilities of custom software but that generally takes years to design and is very pricy. Custom TQM is also very difficult to upgrade. Agile TQM systems are tailored and allow businesses to focus on their strong and weak points to successfully implement the system. These systems are configurable which in turn allows each business to use the software to manage their quality issues, no matter how specialized their operations may be.
