An example of this would be; is a machine breaks down or your test are reporting as a failure, an alert can be sent via email or text message so you can make critical decisions right away.
An example of a real time system would be anti lock brakes. This example uses real time response by releasing the brakes at a critical time to prevent the wheel from locking. If the brakes are not released at a precise time the mission could be critical and is considered a failure.
